Acoustic levitation allows small objects, like droplets of liquid, to float. Unless you travel into the vacuum of space, sound is all around you every day. But most of the time, you probably don't think of it as a physical presence. You hear sounds; you don't touch them. The only exceptions may be loud nightclubs, cars with window-rattling speakers and ultrasound machines that pulverize kidney stones. But even then, you most likely don't think of what you feel as sound itself, but as the vibrations that sound creates in other objects. The idea that something so intangible can lift objects can seem unbelievable, but it's a real phenomenon. Acoustic levitation takes advantage of the properties of sound to cause solids, liquids and heavy gases to float. The process can take place in normal or reduced gravity. In other words, sound can levitate objects on Earth or in gas-filled enclosures in space. But one company has another alternative: wires that are flat instead of round. The company is Southwire. It specializes in creating thin, flat wires and cables that you can glue to a wall and either paint over or coat with a concealing material to blend it into your wall. Once you've installed and concealed the FlatWire, you can have that clean, cable-free look that you see in the advertisements. Southwire currently offers several FlatWire products for audio, video, data and low-voltage wiring solutions. Future FlatWire products will include 120-volt alternating current (VAC) electrical wiring, HDMI cables and a cat-6 cable emulator. All of the products are flexible. Are about as thick as a sheet of paper. FlatWire comes in several different types. The speaker wire and low-voltage wire products look like a pair of copper strips encased in a transparent film. The other FlatWire products have narrower bands of copper encased in film. Depending on the wire's function, there may be one, two or three separate bands of copper. The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (DHW) activated its crisis standards of care because of the massive increase of COVID-19 patients. So what happens when hospitals are so full? Patients lie on stretchers in a hallway in an overloaded emergency room at Providence St. Mary Medical Center amid a surge in COVID-19 patients in Southern California. Scenes like this are common across the U.S. ICU bed capacity is at a minimum. Hospital diversion is rare, but not unprecedented. While it remains controversial in many states, it is never an option that medical facilities invoke lightly. Under normal circumstances, paramedics are supposed to drive straight to the nearest hospital or emergency facility. But when a diversion notice is in place, they may have to break that rule. Hospitals go on diversion when they have more patients than beds. Doctors operating under such circumstances will usually try to outsource their patients' care to another hospital, if possible, in hopes of getting them treated sooner.

Ukraine attacks Raise the risk of another downturn. " said Elina Ribakova, deputy chief economist at the Institute of International Finance, a trade group for banks. Russia’s attack could slow Europe’s economic recovery by sending already elevated energy prices ever higher. Europe, an energy importer, receives close to 40% of its natural gas from Russia. A cutoff of that energy source could undercut the continent’s economy. High natural gas prices have already led to higher home utility bills for both natural-gas heat and electricity generated from gas, crimping consumer spending. "Gas prices in Europe are already crushing households and consumers, especially low-income households," said Adam Tooze, director of Columbia University’s European Institute, whose 2018 history of the last decade’s financial crisis, "Crashed,’’ explored tensions over Ukraine. Costly gas has forced production cutbacks at producers of fertilizer and some other heavy industrial users. "Escalating tensions put two cornerstones of this year’s expected growth recovery - a rebound in consumer spending and a pickup in industrial activity - at further risk," Oliver Rakau and Mateusz Urban at Oxford Economics said in a research note. Instead, it will be built into a tough but pliable fabric frame. Even the screen will able to bend and fold and will have a thickness and flexibility similar to a laminated sheet of paper. Furthermore, how could it be predicted to hit the market in just a few years? Experts say it will be available in 2 to 10 years. Find out why this technology really is right around the corner and why some of its seemingly futuristic features aren't actually so different from what's being offered by products available on the market today. Keep reading to learn how a computer could be built within a flexible fabric frame instead of a more traditional rigid metal housing. Conventional computer hard disk drives are large and bulky, but flash memory, common today in memory sticks and cameras, is a possible lightweight alternative for memory storage in the laptops of tomorrow. To understand how a laptop computer could be designed to be flexible, let's first consider why conventional laptops aren't flexible.|KYIV, Ukraine -- Russia launched a wide-ranging attack on Ukraine on Thursday, hitting cities and bases with airstrikes or shelling, as civilians piled into trains and cars to flee. Ukraine's government said Russian tanks and troops rolled across the border in a "full-scale war" that could rewrite the geopolitical order and whose fallout already reverberated around the world. In unleashing Moscow's most aggressive action since the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1979, President Vladimir Putin deflected global condemnation and cascading new sanctions - and chillingly referred to his country’s nuclear arsenal. Sirens rang out in Ukraine’s capital, large explosions were heard there and in other cities, and people massed in train stations and took to roads, as the government said the former Soviet republic was seeing a long-anticipated invasion from the east, north and south. It reported more than 40 soldiers had been killed and dozens wounded so far. The chief of the NATO alliance said the "brutal act of war" shattered peace in Europe, joining a chorus of world leaders who decried the attack, which could cause massive casualties, topple Ukraine’s democratically elected government and upend the post-Cold War security order. Its scientists work in all 50 U.S. Lakewood, Colo. and Menlo Park, Calif. For volunteers, the USGS offers dozens, if not hundreds of opportunities to help the scientists perform their research. In some cases, you even get a free USGS hat. Read on to learn how to become part of the USGS's National Maps Corps. Joining the USGS's National Map Corps is a good place to start. Originally founded as the Earth Science Corps, the National Map Corps is a group of volunteers who use GPS receivers to get latitude and longitude coordinates for structures in their communities. Those structures include hospitals, airports, universities, fire stations, churches, water towers and landmark buildings. In July 2008, the USGS announced it was suspending the National Maps Corps for budgetary reasons until the agency could evaluate how best to use volunteers to continue creating the National Map. Since then, the USGS has stopped accepting volunteer applications until it is finished evaluating how to restructure the program.

The secretary of state is scheduled to meet the Russian foreign minister, Sergey Lavrov, in Europe next week, but has stipulated that the encounter will be cancelled if an invasion occurs. On Saturday, the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, was sharply critical of allied leaders for waiting to impose sanctions until after any bombardment began. He accused world leaders of "appeasement". "You’re telling me that it’s 100% that the war will start in a couple of days. Then what are you waiting for? Asked by CBS to respond, Blinken said: "We have put together in great detail the massive consequences that will befall Russia if it engages in this aggression. Russian officials continued to insist there were no plans to invade. Anatoly Antonov, the Russian ambassador to Washington, told CBS the massive operation was limited to "sovereign Russian territory" - glossing over sizable forces and drills in Belarus. "We don’t threaten anyone," Antonov said. The ambassador added that the goal was to achieve "legally binding guarantees for Russian security" and to stop Nato expansion on its borders. "Nato is not a peace-loving NGO," he said. "It’s a political-military machinery or block. Whether they'll spring for a Urus remains to be seen. But, remember, Lamborghini is trying to attract new markets here, too. Lamborghini. Based on preproduction versions of the Urus, Lamborghini is off to a good start. Let's take a quick look at Lamborghini's history for a moment, and its first sport ute, the LM002 -- aka the Rambo Lambo. It was a military truck that was produced between 1986 and 1993, and some production LM002s were allocated to civilians. An Italian parallel to the Humvee, if you will -- and there was a physical resemblance to the Humvee, too. So, anyone bemoaning that Lamborghini is selling out by making an SUV is just wrong. It's not only the automotive press pointing out the ties to the Rambo Lambo, either. If the concept car is an indication (and it should be) the Urus will definitely have the look and the feel of a Lamborghini. Lamborghini's description of the vehicle's profile. Rest assured that Lamborghini will make sure its new high-priced SUV will be loaded with the same kind of amenities as its more established high-priced sports cars.|Stocks fell, pushing the S&P 500 into a correction, as the imposition of sanctions against Russia over its Ukraine militancy put further stress on a market that has shown signs of buckling under the Federal Reserve’s efforts to subdue inflation. The S&P 500 declined 1 percent, bringing its losses from a January high to 10 percent, as investors weighed the potential damage from sanctions targeting Russia’s elite and sovereign debt abroad. The European Union and the United Kingdom also signalled they were ready to impose further penalties unless Putin changes course. However, the Russian president has denied plans to invade Ukraine. Gold was little changed, the dollar was flat and benchmark Treasury yields drifted at 1.92 percent. In European trading, the Stoxx 600 Index fell as much as 2 percent before recovering losses. Biden said the United States was working closely with Germany on halting the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which sent European natural gas futures 11 percent higher earlier in the session. That reduces wear and the amount of maintenance needed on the system. Given the negative press electronic throttle control systems received, you may be surprised to know that electronic throttle controls add a number of safety benefits over mechanical systems. In a mechanical system, the throttle relies only on driver input to decide how far to open or close. With an electronic throttle control system, the main control unit not only reads input from the driver's foot on the accelerator, but it also examines input from wheels that are slipping, wheels that have grip, the steering system and the brakes, helping correct driver error and keep the car under control. In other words, a throttle control system can balance several factors that affect a car's speed and direction -- not just a foot on the pedal. Plus, electronic throttle control is a key component in most cruise control systems. Electronic throttle control may be a complex system, but it makes driving a car easier and safer, and it can reduce maintenance.
