Other auto manufacturers have been entertaining a similar strategy. China is an important market for Porsche's large vehicles, and Bentley, another Volkswagen-owned luxury brand (in addition to Lamborghini), has also enjoyed significant growth in that country. It simply made sense for Lamborghini to reveal the Urus concept vehicle there. But the brand's top decision makers didn't give up on the Urus. The vehicle stayed in development for well over a year, waiting for the right time. What caused the change? Well, it wasn't the European financial news. It was reportedly China's increasing taste for luxury goods that helped drive Lamborghini back into action. The decision was made for the Urus to go into production to help the Lamborghini brand expand into new markets. To meet increased demand in areas where Lamborghini has only recently started selling vehicles. The decision to design the Urus was inspired in part by the success of the Porsche Cayenne, an SUV that, upon its 2002 release, was criticized by some for not remaining true to Porsche's motorsports heritage.|Image Gallery: Concept Cars Toyota MTRC. See more pictures of concept cars. In addition to a range of new, commercial vehicles, regular visitors to motor shows have come to expect something a little more exciting. There's an increasing demand for car manufacturers to unveil innovative, extravagant and sometimes way-out concept cars -- vehicles that are not quite ready for mass production but offer a thrilling insight into what might be rolling off the production line in the future. The unveiling of a new concept car allows manufacturers the opportunity to test out radical designs, body shapes, alternative power sources or new control systems, all without needing to worry about the costs or feasibility of mass production. In this article, HowStuffWorks takes a look at Toyota's MTRC concept car, which the carmaker revealed at the 74th Geneva International Motor Show in March 2004. As well as examining its ultra-modern curves, we'll see how it really pushes the limits of current technology. However, there's no way to tell how many of Twitter's new recruits signed up to follow their favorite celebrity. In April 2009, Oprah Winfrey began using Twitter, and it had a profound effect on the service. In March 2009, the site crashed when Barbara Walters tried to explain Twitter to "The View's" audience. In fact, her comments preceded perhaps the worst outage Twitter has experienced in quite some time -- the entire site was unable to load. If Barbara Walters merely mentioning the site can cause such severe Twitter outages, there's no telling what could happen if a more prominent star began using the service to reveal particularly juicy gossip. In other words, if Bono ever tweets the reason he won't take off his sunglasses, or if Will Smith uses Twitter to explain why he couldn't be both the DJ and the rapper, you can probably expect a significant lag in your tweets -- if you're able to send them at all.|If you take Lipitor to lower your cholesterol, you're not alone. If you're not on Lipitor, you may wonder what all the fuss is about. After all, Lipitor isn't the only cholesterol-reducing medication on the market, and it's certainly not the cheapest. Is there really anything that special about it? You'd be in good company if you had those questions -- even Lipitor's creators weren't sure their new drug would make much of a dent on the market. Created by Parke-Davis (a company owned by pharmaceutical Warner-Lambert), Lipitor was a late entry into the cholesterol management market. In those early studies, the drug performed exactly the same as other medications on the market. Though Parke-Davis created a process for eliminating the excess from the compound, there were still questions of whether the drug should move forward in testing. Was it worth it? While the animal studies provided disappointing results, Lipitor immediately showed great promise for humans. In both instances, these were significantly higher results than any other drug in this class could provide, even at higher doses. In this document we will focus in the description of the silicon-tungsten electromagnetic calorimeter, SiW-ECAL, technological prototype and its performance in beam test. The design and R&D of this prototype is conducted by CALICE and it is oriented at the baseline design of the ILD ECAL. POSTSUBSCRIPT of thickness (in the barrel region) and it uses silicon (Si) as active material and tungsten (W) as absorber material. The combination of Si and W for the construction of the detector allows the construction of a very compact calorimeter made up of compact active layers with small cell size (high granularity) in the transverse and longitudinal planes. It will consist of an alveolar structure of carbon fiber into which the slabs made up of tungsten plates and active sensors will be inserted. The very-front-end (VFE) electronics will be embedded in the slabs. The silicon sensors will be segmented in squared cells of 5x5 mm, featuring a total of ∼100similar-toabsent100sim 100∼ 100 million channels for the ECAL of the ILD.|Both data mining and data warehousing are business intelligence tools that are used to turn information (or data) into actionable knowledge. The important distinctions between the two tools are the methods. Processes each uses to achieve this goal. Data mining is a process of statistical analysis. Analysts use technical tools to query. Sort through terabytes of data looking for patterns. Usually, the analyst will develop a hypothesis, such as customers who buy product X usually buy product Y within six months. Running a query on the relevant data to prove or disprove this theory is data mining. Businesses then use this information to make better business decisions based on how they understand their customers' and suppliers' behaviors. Data warehouse experts consider that the various stores of data are connected. Related to each other conceptually as well as physically. A business's data is usually stored across a number of databases. However, to be able to analyze the broadest range of data, each of these databases needs to be connected in some way. This means that the data within them need a way of being related to other relevant data. That the physical databases themselves have a connection so their data can be looked at together for reporting purposes. So the crux of the relationship between data mining and data warehousing is that data, properly warehoused, is easier to mine. If a data mining query has to run through terabytes of data spread across multiple databases, which sit on different physical networks - - that is not an efficient query and getting results will take a long a time. However, if the data warehouse expert designs a data storage system that closely connects relevant data in different databases, the data miner can now run much more meaningful and efficient queries to improve the business.

In a special televised address, Putin announced a "special military operation in Ukraine". Shortly after, Ukraine officials reported missile attacks and gunfire in several cities. US President Joe Biden said that they would continue to provide support to Ukraine. That the world will hold Russia accountable for the military onslaught. He called the attack "unprovoked and unjustified". Biden said in an address. The UK and its allies will respond decisively to Russia's "unprovoked" attack on Ukraine, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said today. Taking to his Twitter handle, Mr Johnson said that he is appalled by the horrific events in Ukraine and has spoken to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss the next steps. France today condemned Russia's decision to 'wage war on Ukraine'. France President Emmanuel Macron wrote on Twitter, saying Russia had made the decision to "wage war" on Ukraine. Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi on Thursday lashed Russia's attack on Ukraine as "unjustified and unjustifiable," saying Europe and NATO were working on an immediate response. Draghi said in a statement. Russia's attack on Ukraine "shakes the foundation of the international order", Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said Thursday, strongly condemning the military incursion. Twin creases decorated the decklid, and round backup lights were built into the massive, arched bumper. Promotional drawings exaggerated the broad expanse of the back end, but the artist needn't have bothered. The decklid was plenty wide enough in real life. So, did all these styling touches add up to the "fresh, balanced, enchanting symmetry" promised in the brochure? Well, maybe that's reaching a tad too far. Gaudiness wasn't exactly gone. The compound-curve windshield remained. So did the Holiday hardtop sedan with its flat-top roof extending beyond a radically wrapped back window. Oldsmobile customers liked their comforts, and the 1960 Oldsmobiles had plenty to offer. Vibra-Tuned body mounting at points of minimum vibration, insisted the copywriters, would insulate passengers from road noise and harshness. Convenience options ran the gamut from Guide-Matic that dimmed the headlights automatically, to a four- or six-way power seat and power decklid release. If flipping the vent glass open and shut sounded just too, too taxing, powered ventipanes were available. Bob Roach graces the streets of Point Pleasant, West Virginia. Believers will tell you the creature's got glowing red eyes. Other attributes include massive wings and a tall, vaguely humanoid stature. In 1966, the "Point Pleasant Register" started reporting on Mothman sightings. When the nearby Silver Bridge over the Ohio River collapsed Dec. 15, 1967 - killing 46 people - there were rumors that Mothman was connected to the disaster. Those rumblings inspired John Keel's 1975 book "The Mothman Prophecies" and its 2002 film adaptation (which starred Richard Gere and Laura Linney). Mokele-mbembe is supposed to be a huge water monster resembling the long-necked and very much extinct dinosaur, Brontosaurus. Mothman wasn't the only cryptid to go Hollywood, as it were. 1985 Disney movie about 20th-century dinosaurs who live off the grid in the Congo River Basin. The picture drew inspiration from Africa's fabled Mokele-mbembe. In case you hadn't heard, this thing is supposed to be a huge water monster resembling the herbivorous, long-necked and very much extinct dinosaur, Brontosaurus.|Lewontin, Richard Charles (1929-), an American evolutionary geneticist, introduced the study of molecular population genetics in the 1960's. Lewontin continues work on the mathematical theory of population genetics. On experimental determination of genetic structure of natural populations. An outspoken critic of the misuses of science in general and genetics in particular, he has written several books relating genetics and evolution to social issues. Lewontin was born in New York City. After earning an undergraduate degree in biology at Harvard (1951), Lewontin was awarded a master's degree in statistics (1952) and a doctorate in zoology (1954) by Columbia University. In graduate school, he was a National Science Foundation Predoctoral Fellow (1952-1953, 1953-1954). Over the next six years, he advanced from assistant professor to professor of biology. He concurrently held a Fulbright fellowship. In 1964, Lewontin was appointed professor of biology at the University of Chicago. The following year he became co-editor of The American Naturalist, a position he held until 1969. During his years at the university, he was awarded a second National Science Foundation Senior Postdoctoral Fellowship (1971-1972) and served as associate dean of the division of biological sciences (1966-1968) and as chairman of the program in evolutionary biology (1968-1973). In 1973, he joined the department of organismal and evolutionary biology at Harvard University as Alexander Agassiz Professor of Zoology and Professor of Biology (1973-1999). In 1999, he was appointed Alexander Agassiz Research Professor at Harvard's Museum of Comparative Zoology.

The High Altitude Water Cherenkov (HAWC) observatory is a very high energy gamma-ray detector located in Mexico. In late 2018, the HAWC collaboration completed a major upgrade consisting of the addition of a sparse outrigger array of 345 small water Cherenkov detectors (WCDs) surrounding the 300 WCDs of the main array and extending the instrumented area by a factor of 4. It provides an improved reconstruction of the showers whose core and footprint are not well contained in the array and increases the effective area in the range of a few TeV to beyond 100 TeV. This improvement in sensitivity will help to have a better understanding of the Galactic sources that accelerate particles up to the knee of the cosmic ray spectrum. In this contribution, we will show the current status, the performance, and the first results from the HAWC outrigger array. The High Altitude Water Cherenkov (HAWC) is a very-high-energy gamma-ray observatory located at 4100 m altitude on the volcano Sierra Negra in the state of Puebla in central Mexico.|WASHINGTON (AP) - Just what a vulnerable world economy didn’t need - a conflict that accelerates inflation, rattles markets and portends trouble for everyone from European consumers to indebted Chinese developers and families in Africa that face soaring food prices. Russia’s attack on Ukraine and retaliatory sanctions from the West may not portend another global recession. The two countries together account for less than 2% of the world’s gross domestic product. And many regional economies remain in solid shape, having rebounded swiftly from the pandemic recession. Yet the conflict threatens to inflict severe economic damage on some countries. Industries - damage that could mean hardships for millions of people. Russia is the world’s third-biggest producer of petroleum. Is a major exporter of natural gas. Ukraine’s farms feed millions around the world. And financial markets are in a precarious spot as central banks prepare to reverse years of easy-money policies and raise interest rates to fight a resurgence of inflation. Those higher rates will likely slow spending. The idea behind it is that people's relationship with the Earth is crucial to their physical and emotional well-being. Any disruption in this relationship can lead to stress and anxiety. Ecopsychology investigates how an individual's upbringing. Background contribute to his or her relationship with the environment. It also looks at the person's carbon footprint and how he or she is working to help the environment and offers suggestions on how to reduce eco-anxiety. Ecopsychologist Michael J. Cohen developed an idea called the natural systems thinking process (NTSP), which furthers the idea that our anxiety is rooted in a disconnect between our health and the health of the planet. Some people see an eco-therapist. More colleges and universities, like Naropa University in Boulder, Colo., and Prescott College in Tucson, Ariz., have started offering ecopsychology as a major, so the number of trained eco-therapists is likely to grow. Some eco-therapists advise their patients to get outside and feel closer to nature, while others recommend that patients bring nature closer to them by carrying around a rock or piece of tree bark.|Telling people to do more of one thing and less of another tended to hinder weight loss, a study showed. Getting healthy can be overwhelming in scope, which is one reason why many people abandon ship after a short period of effort. Fortunately, scientists have uncovered the secret to health success, and it's a lot less convoluted than you might think. In fact, simplicity is the very core message. A meta-analysis of 150 research reports, recently published in the journal Health Psychology Review, concluded that similarly focused messages are what matters when helping people stage a health intervention, like losing weight or quitting smoking. Success is more likely when the messages are not mixed with both action and inaction recommendations. For example, if a doctor tells a patient to engage in only inaction behaviors, like reducing fat intake or reducing screen time, that's more likely to work than telling him to engage in one action, like exercise more, along with one inaction, like eat less sugar. Action-only recommendations (exercise more, eat more veggies) are also less confusing than mixed messages. Surprisingly, in the areas of exercise and diet, action messaging is less effective in the long run than inaction-focused recommendations. On the flip side, smoking-reduction efforts are more successful with action steps. This guidance should be helpful for healthcare providers and groups trying to improve habits and behavior. Approximately 1 in 3 Americans today are considered obese, a huge shift from just a few decades ago. Why the change? Some possible causes are an uptick in affordable convenience foods, lowered physical demands on the job (and thus less exercise throughout the day) and more screen time than ever before. According to PolitiFact, a long-standing urban legend has convinced many people over the years that rank-and-file members of the House of Representatives only have to serve for two years in order to receive $174,000 annually for the rest of their lives. Unfortunately for members of Congress, the legend is, well, a legend. A report on "Retirement Benefits for Members of Congress" stipulates that no member of Congress is eligible to receive pension until they've served for at least five years (senators serve six-year terms, but members of the House have to seek reelection every two years). There are other provisions as well: The congressperson or senator has to be 62 years old or at least 50 with 20 years of service (or, if they're whiz kids, they can be any age, as long as they've served for 25 years) before they can begin receiving their pension. And that $174,000 rumor isn't quite right either.
